Officers were called to the A697 near Whittingham on Thursday (November 14) after a white Volkswagen car collided with a red Honda quad bike at around 5pm.

Northumbria Police has confirmed that a man, aged in his 50s, was left with serious injuries - with his current condition not yet known.

A woman in her 30s has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She remains in police custody.
