A fitness and running store is set to relocate to a new location in Darlington in the coming weeks.

Up and Running is set to make the move from Bondgate to High Row in the near future, it has been confirmed, nearly ten years after it first opened.

The fitness shop sells all things running including high-end shoes, accessories and clothing and is just one store of many in the chain, which operates in Harrogate, Leeds and online.

Manager Dan Rowlands told The Northern Echo all about the upcoming move and why now is the right time to move.

He said: "We've been in the current store for nine years, but I think it's time to move forward and bring the shop to a new location for 2025.

"We have outgrown the store we are currently in - in our time the running community has boomed recently and we believe the community needs a store to suit that."

The Up and Running Store is also home to the Social Running Group (known as the SRG) which sees over 100 runners get together to complete a 5k around town every Monday.

Dan added that the group has been "growing every week" but now it has grown, all members can no longer fit inside the current Bondgate unit.

He said: "The current SRG group is so big - we just can't fit everyone in. The new unit is much bigger - it will be much better for us and for the high street.

"We are bringing some high-end brands back to High Row again."

No opening date has been fixed but Dan confirmed it will be announced online as and when.

He added: "We are really excited for the move - all the staff are buzzing about it. It's been a long time coming.

"We think its time to keep pushing our growth in Darlington - and with House of Fraser remaining open we're excited to bring some big brands to High Row."
