A busy County Durham A-road is set to be closed "for several hours" following a crash this morning.

The A167 near Croxdale remains closed, say police, who have been in attendance following the crash just before 10:30am (November 15).

Traffic attempting to access the road is currently being diverted through Meadowfield and Langley Moor whilst emergency services, including the fire and rescue service, are in attendance.

A Durham Constabulary statement reads: "We are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the A167 in Croxdale, near to the Honest Lawyer.

"The North East Ambulance Service and County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance.

"The road is expected to be closed for several hours. Both drivers and pedestrians are asked to find an alternative route.

"Thank you for your patience."
