Two men held staff at a Darlington supermarket at knifepoint and snatched booze, cash, and cigarettes during a suspected robbery.
The incident took place at the Sainsbury's store on Corporation Road, just off North Road, after the two men entered the shop and allegedly threatened staff with knives.
The duo then took cash, cigarettes, alcohol, and energy drinks before making off in the direction of Branksome Terrace.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing police and forensics at the supermarket on Thursday morning, the day after the incident (Wednesday, November 13) although it is not known what time police first arrived.
Durham Constabulary has since launched an investigation, asking anyone who witnessed the incident or saw two men acting suspiciously in the area at the time to get in touch.
