A County Durham road will be closed for 'several hours' after a serious crash, police have confirmed.
Emergency services are currently at the incident on Newgate Street in Bishop Auckland, which has seen police, ambulance crews, and the fire service at the scene.
Reports have also suggested that the air ambulance has attended the scene, but has not yet been confirmed.
Durham Police has said that the road will be closed for 'several hours' to allow the emergency services to work at the scene.
In images from the scene, police have cordoned off the road, with firefighters seen working towards the traffic lights that connect Newgate Street and Bob Hardisty Drive.
The police force has warned drivers and pedestrians about a diversion route.

A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "We are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision in Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland.
"Colleagues from the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service are also on scene.
"The road is expected to be closed for several hours between Bob Hardisty Drive and Newgate Street.

"Both drivers and pedestrians are asked to find an alternative route."
The police have also warned people about speculating about the nature of the incident online.
The spokesperson added: "We would also like to remind people that anyone involved in road traffic collisions has a reasonable expectation of privacy and ask those taking pictures and video to refrain from doing so, posting or speculating online as to the circumstances. Thank you for your patience."
