B&M has announced a new opening date for its garden centre at Teesside Park.

The discount retailer launched its new 34,686-square-foot store at the shopping complex last November after taking over the former Toys R Us.

At the time, B&M bosses announced the store would feature a garden centre in part of the car park, earmarking spring or summer 2024 as the opening date.

However, the garden centre is still yet to come to fruition, with no update provided by the chain and no visible work taking place.

Now, The Northern Echo can confirm that the garden centre is due to open in March 2025. It is not yet known why the addition to the store has been delayed from the original opening timeframe.

As previously reported, the unit and its car park stood empty for several years following the closure of Toys R Us back in 2018.

The store was given a major overhaul as part of the takeover, with a brand new glass front added to the building and the walls given a fresh lick of paint.

Details regarding what the garden centre will contain are not yet known - although the retailer's typical garden centres usually include everything from cheap fencing and compost to plants and seeds.

The news comes following a busy year for the park, which has seen several stores open for the first time including Primark, White Stuff, Rituals, PureGym, and Ninja Warrior.

There's more to come too, with Mango, Flannels, and a new Sports Direct store coming soon.
