Sports Direct has provided a new opening time frame for its new Teesside Park store.
The sportswear chain is set to open its new 40,000-square-foot home in Unit 9A, located just steps away from its current store at the popular shopping complex.
In recent months, the vacant stores formerly belonging to Laura Ashley, Argos, USC, and MenKind have been merged to make way for the mega unit, with new signs teasing the opening of Sports Direct being put up in just the last few days.
Now, Frasers Group has confirmed it will be opening a new store in spring 2025, which will also include the USC, GAME and Evans Cycle brands.
As previously reported, Frasers Group initially earmarked a late 2024 opening date for the new store, with its location in the park unknown at the time.
Earlier this year, the chain appeared on park plans for the unit, drawn up by owner British Land, which stated it was “coming soon”.
Construction crews have recently transformed the space, adding a new glass front before the new signs were erected last week, marking the first confirmation Sports Direct would be moving in.
Meanwhile, it is not currently known when the current Sports Direct will close to make way for Flannels, with the designer brand also set to revamp the space.
However, The Northern Echo understands that Flannels is set to open in Spring 2025.
This year has been huge for new stores at the park, with Primark, White Stuff, Rituals, and PureGym all recently opening their doors.
There's also more to come - with fashion retailer Mango and the B&M Garden Centre still on the cards at the complex.
A spokesperson for Frasers Group commented: “We are pleased to be opening a new and elevated 40,000 sq. ft Sports Direct store in Teesside Park.
"Set to open Spring 2025, this expansive store will offer customers the world’s most aspirational sports and lifestyle brands, as well as bring other brands from Frasers Group’s ecosystem, including USC, GAME and Evans Cycles, to the location.”
