A popular restaurant chain with five locations in the North East will open a new venue at a County Durham retail park after signs for it popped up earlier this week.

Uno Momento, which has restaurants in Darlington, Durham, Middlesbrough, Northallerton and Stokesley, will welcome its newest venue to its portfolio opening in Bishop Auckland Retail Park.

Signs for the restaurants have been seen, with the restaurant expected to open at the end of November, although an official opening date is yet to be set.

In images for the new venue, signs for Uno Momento Steak and Seafood café house have been seen next to Little Sicily, which will be located next door.

While they were maybe looking for more mystery surrounding it, a lot of people did respond to the post to confirm the news about Bishop Auckland, with one person saying: "Just saw the sign up at Bishop, so excited," while another added: "Definitely Bishop Auckland."

Earlier this year, Uno Momento was awarded the ‘Best Restaurant Chain’ award at England’s Business Awards, while also scooping plenty of other accolades over the years.

Meanwhile, at the Bishop Auckland Retail Park, all of the spaces for shops have almost been filled, with brands such as Popeyes, Home Bargains and Pure Gym among others occupying the retail space.

In phase two of the project, developers plan to add another three retail units, a petrol station, and more car parking as part of a further multimillion-pound project.

A Prestige Properties spokesperson said: “The Phase 2 scheme will deliver three additional retail warehouse units with a total floor area of approximately 8,000 sq.m, as well as a new petrol filling station.

“The proposals represent a further multi-million-pound investment in the local area and, once complete, will generate in the region of 300 jobs across a range of roles building on the undoubted success of Phase 1 by accommodating further national retailers not currently represented in the town, meaning residents will no longer have to travel elsewhere to visit such outlets.”
