Motorcyclist still in hospital after Langleydale, Barnard Castle crash

Durham Police say they attended the three-vehicle crash on Dentgate Lane, Langleydale, Barnard Castle, at around 5.50pm on Monday (November 11).

The incident involved a Nissan X-Trail, Landrover Discovery, and motorbike, which saw police, the ambulance service, the fire service, and an air ambulance at the scene.

In total, around 15 emergency service vehicles dealt with the incident, with the road closed during the incident to allow paramedics to work at the scene.

The North East Ambulance Service has confirmed that one person was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough via road ambulance following the incident.

Durham Police confirmed on Tuesday (November 12) afternoon that the motorbike rider, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and is still in hospital.

They also said that the drivers of the other vehicles are not believed to have been injured.

An investigation is ongoing, according to the police.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Dentgate Lane in Barnard Castle at 5.47pm on Monday (November 11).

"We dispatched one ambulance crew, one of our community paramedics, and a clinical team leader and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance Service.

"One patient was transported by road to James Cook Hospital for further treatment."

A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service received a call from Ambulance Service at 5.51pm on the 11th of November (Monday) to reports of a Road Traffic Collision involving one private motor vehicle and a motorbike on Dent Gate Lane, Langley Dale, Barnard Castle.

"Fire engines from Barnard Castle and Crook attended the incident. Working alongside our partner emergency services, our Crews supported with casualty care and made the vehicles safe before leaving the scene at around 7.15pm."
