A photography group have begun a charity fundraising effort after taking photos of 100 dogs around a North Yorkshire town centre.

What started as a hobby project for Masham Photographic Club has led to the publication of a book that they are selling to benefit three groups.

One of the club’s committee members, Kate Tench, was inspired to arrange a project where the group would take photographs of the local dogs in the town of Masham.

Over several days in August and September club members, Bill Tetlow, Chris Broadbent, Victor Pogson, Kate Tench and Andrew Burns took photos of local dogs and also those visiting from far and wide.

After taking photos of more than 100 dogs, all the images were later made into a book which is going on sale this week.

Each dog’s photo is accompanied by some information about it, such as name, breed, age, favourite walks, and likes and dislikes.

Kate’s own dog ‘Freyja’ (an Icelandic Sheepdog) features on the front cover.

Masham Photographic Club will be donating the proceeds from the sale of the books to three local good causes, the Masham Community Office (MCO), the charity, Saving Yorkshire Dogs (SYD), with some of the money going back to the photography club so they can undertake future projects.

The book is on sale for £8.50 and is available in two outlets, the MCO and the SYD charity shop in Leyburn.

For those living outside the area, the club has set up a dedicated website for online orders, which can be found here.
