Drivers in Darlington have been advised that delays on a stretch of road in the town might be possible over the next five days after contractors have confirmed they are investigating a gas leak.
Northern Gas Networks say they are looking into a potential leak on West Auckland Road, Darlington and will have to work on part of the road as part of its investigations.
From Wednesday (November 13), there will be multi-way traffic lights in place at the junction of Willow Road while repairs are carried out, with drivers warned that delays are possible during all times of the day.
A Northern Gas Networks spokesperson added: "Delays are expected but it is hoped they will have the repairs completed by Sunday (17 November)."
