The Northern Echo is investing in a transformation of its flagship business campaign.
For more than three years the Level Up programme has worked in partnership with some of the North East’s leading organisations – bp, believe housing, Cummins, Darlington Building Society, Durham County Council, North East Chamber of Commerce, razorblue, Teesside Airport, Tees Valley Combined Authority and Womble Bond Dickinson - to fight for jobs and investment, with a series of live events, constant coverage online and in print and in-depth interviews and analysis in the quarterly BUSINESSiQ magazine.
For 2025 the campaign will be rebranded as Impact, continuing to shine a spotlight on those North East businesses who are redefining our region, but with even more resource and focus on what we need to do together to make the most of every opportunity coming to the North East.
BUSINESSiQ Editor Mike Hughes said the launch of Impact and the expansion of what the Northern Echo would be doing in 2025 had come at the perfect time for the region.
“We have spent three years looking at the turnaround here – shaking off the image of what this part of the UK used to be capable of and focussing on an amazing amount of global investment and the sheer hard work of our companies and business leaders to create this new landscape.
“The campaign has been growing each year, so we decided very early in our plans that from 2025 Impact was the perfect name for how it will be changing.
“We want to show how our business partners are having an Impact, how the Impact of the region is becoming a global force and how BUSINESSiQ and the Northern Echo itself are investing to make sure we do our bit and help make our own Impact alongside such powerful colleagues.”
“We want to highlight and help drive economic, social, and environmental change across the North East as our businesses build a region where they can thrive, communities are empowered, and sustainability, innovation and inclusivity are at the core of growth for future generations.
“The Northern Echo has never been afraid to support and shout in equal measure when we see something where our huge regional presence here and around the UK as part of the Newsquest network can make a difference.
“I think we can do that again with Impact.”
As part of a raft of changes – all starting next year but continuing for as long as it takes - the Impact campaign will work closely with MPs to make sure the voice of the North East is heard loud and clear in Parliament, it will be expanding coverage of the live events that have become such an integral part of our coverage over the last three years, there will be two new special reports each year on subjects vital to the region’s future and we will be linking up with our Newsquest colleagues around the country to spread the word far beyond our own region.
As plans start to take shape across the North East and the potential for jobs and investment becomes clear, we know this is only the start of the Impact the region can have, so BUSINESSiQ - the business arm of The Northern Echo - wants to continue working with more key business figures around the North East, from Northumberland to North Yorkshire, who are making their own plans for the future and playing their part in attracting investment and global focus.
