Here are a few of the people who were sentenced at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ courts recently.

The eight offenders include those guilty of stalking, shoplifting, criminal damage and driving offences.

Jamie McCabe, of Beechfield, Newton Aycliffe, pleaded guilty to stalking, possession of crack cocaine, refusing to provide a specimen for analysis, criminal damage and sending malicious communications last month. The 35-year-old was sentenced to 24 weeks in custody suspended for 18 months. He was also ordered to attend 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and pay £2,500 in compensation.

Leanne Bexfield, of Elmfield Street, Darlington, pleaded guilty to causing £200 worth of damage to Francis Howard House intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged on August 22. The 36-year-old also admitted failing to surrender to court bail. She was made subject to a 15 day electronically tagged curfew and pay £240 in compensation.

Philip Allen, of Rose Lea, Witton Gilbert, County Durham, pleaded guilty to causing £336 worth of damage to a Renault Clio in August last year. The 61-year-old was ordered to pay £336 in compensation, fined £300 and ordered to pay £217 towards court costs.

Keiron Lewis, of Ascot Street, Peterlee, County Durham, pleaded guilty to shoplifting from the Co-op and TK Maxx in September this year. The 37-year-old was sentenced to nine weeks in custody suspended for 18 months and ordered to pay £85 towards court costs.

Darren Woodward, of Elgan Close, Stanley, County Durham, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance when he was stopped on Wear Road, Stanley on September 15 this year. The 45 year-old was banned from driving for three years and sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.

James Fieldson, of Barrington Terrace, Ferryhill, stole meat and cheese of a value unknown, belonging to The Co-Op, on November 5 this year. The 37-year-old was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 towards court costs after pleading guilty.

Darren Boggon, of Oxlea, South Moor, Stanley, pleaded guilty to six counts of shoplifting from Asda, the Original Factory Shop and a service station between September and October this year. The 37-year-old was made subject of a 12-month community order, attend 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days, ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and pay compensation to the businesses.

Michael McGregor, of Montrose Street North Back, Darlington, stole alcohol and household products to the value of £197.46, belonging to B&M Stores in Catterick Garrison on June 19. The 42-year-old was made subject to a three-month including an electronically monitored curfew tagging condition. He was also ordered to pay £85 towards court costs.
