A County Durham Italian restaurant has made the "hard decision" to close its doors for good just seven months after it first opened.
Nerano's Italian Ristorante on West Grove in Seaham confirmed the closure on social media yesterday (November 10), thanking customers for their loyalty.
This comes just seven months after the restaurant, which marketed itself on authentic Italian cuisine, first opened - and it has amassed a following of over 1,000 people online in that time.
Breaking the sad news, the team said: "Chef Gerry has had to make the hard decision and close the doors to Nerano’s restaurant, Sadly tonight was the last service.
"Chef Gerry and the staff would like to thank all the customers for your support and to those of you who became friends.
"The Chef values all the compliments that were paid to him and his dedication to food.
"For those of you that has booked and paid deposits for Christmas Day we will be ringing you all tomorrow to speak with you personally and arrange the return of your deposits."
Residents were quick to express their sadness in the comments, saying the spot was the "crown jewel" of Seaham.
The restaurant has been contacted for more information.
