A tree was on fire in Newton Aycliffe last night (November 9), right next to the Army reserve centre, the night before Remembrance Sunday.

Footage posted on social media showed the tree, close to the TA centre on Macmillan Road, well alight.

The site is close to the town centre and near to where the Remembrance Day parade and service will be taking place today.

People commenting on social media said they were worried the fire could affect the parade today (November 10), but it is understood the service will go ahead as normal.
