Five people have been hospitalised and later arrested following a "disturbance" at a property in County Durham.

Police remain at a home on Bradley Close in Ouston, near Birtley this morning (Friday, November 8) following an incident at 9.30am this morning.

A statement states officers were called following reports of a "disturbance".

Five people were taken to hospital as a result but were all later arrested on suspicion of affray.

Details regarding the exact nature of the incident have not yet been revealed.

"Five people have been arrested following a disturbance at a property in Ouston. Officers were called to the address on Bradley Close at around 9.30am this morning.

"The five individuals were taken to hospital with minor injuries and arrested on suspicion of affray. They will be taken into custody following treatment.

"There is no wider risk to the public and officers would like to thank residents for their patience. A scene remains in place at the address whilst enquires continue."
