A County Durham has received a special recognition of their high quality and warm welcome - and are now preparing for a busy festive season.
Park Head Hotel, in Bishop Auckland achieved a 75 per cent quality rating from VisitEngland.
The hotel’s second visit from the national assessors of quality in tourism and destinations was a success, improving on their impressive 2023 rating,
Park Head also retained their sought-after Breakfast Award and gained special recognition for their warm welcome to pets, walkers and cyclists.
Andrew Hogg, general manager at Park Head Hotel said, “We’re so pleased to have been awarded this accreditation. It’s a testament to the hard work of our staff – and proves what our much-valued, returning guests know to be true.
"The Breakfast Award is an achievement we’re really proud of; we think our hearty food, use of locally sourced produce and welcoming service showcases the best of Bishop Auckland.”

This festive season, the hotel is partnering with AGLOW the dazzling light trail twinkling amongst the historic buildings and gardens of Auckland Palace, and Christmas at the Palace - a brand-new indoor experience at Auckland Palace brimming with festive charm.
Whilst on the Festive Break deal at Park Head Hotel guests can enjoy dinner, breakfast and a cosy overnight stay as well as entry to AGLOW and Christmas at the Palace and elaborate festive decorations.
Guests staying at Park Head Hotel on peak days can also add AGLOW and Christmas at the Palace tickets to their booking and save 20 per cent on the price of their event ticket.

Additionally, the ‘Twixmas Break’ is available for guests looking to fill the extra time between Christmas and New Year.
Welcomed with a mince pie and glass of fizz upon arrival guests can enjoy a two-night stay with breakfast each morning as well as discount on evening meals in the hotel’s Oak Room restaurant.
The ‘Twixmas’ Break also includes entry to AGLOW and Christmas at the Palace on one evening of the break.
