Darlington Trading Standards team are investigating social media posts describing a suspect trader selling 'counterfeit goods' in the town centre.
A man is reportedly trying to sell perfume to people on the street.
Their team had not previously received any complaints or reports but they are now looking into it.
They confirmed that they will crack down on anyone "selling illegal goods".

A Darlington Borough Council spokesman said: "Our trading standards team has not received any complaints or reports about this seller.
"However, we do take action against anyone selling illegal goods and will follow up on this now that it has been brought to our attention."
