A popular restaurant - known for its extravagant brunch and lunch dishes - will now stay open for dinner and small plates.

Foda, in Monkseaton, Whitley Bay, announced that it will welcome guests for a "refined dinner" seating Wednesday to Saturday.

At the new venture, named Foda Night, customers will be able to enjoy "small plates and specials", served up in their Front Street venue from 6pm til 9pm.

Foda opened in October 2022, as the second venue from sister and brother team Sarah Scott and Tom Monkhouse. The siblings and their dad Tim had already made a name for themselves on the coast with their Whitley Bay Mediterranean restaurant Papa Ganoush.

Though a menu has yet to be divulged, it is likely to take inspiration from its range of healthy and wholesome brunch favourites served up by Foda cooks in the daytime - like shakshuka, Turkish toast, eggs benedict and mackerel salad.

The name Foda (pronounced fuh-dah), means both ‘to feed’ and ‘to produce new life’ in Swedish, celebrating the owners' Nordic heritage.

Announcing the new nighttime venture, Foda's owners said: "Our chefs have been hard at work creating something special, and we can't wait for you to experience it.
