We asked an artificial intelligence tool to plan a day out at Beamish Museum for £35, here's how it went.
The open-air period museum, which documents life in the North East from the 1820s to the 1950s, was the subject of an experiment by The Northern Echo to see how ChatGPT would spend the money at the site.
The assistant was asked to plan a day and told it had £35 to spend.
ChatGPT had to spend most of its money on the entry ticket, which costs £27.95.
After this, the assistant had £7.05 left to spend on food and activities. Of this, £3 was spent on traditional sweets from Jubilee Confectioners.
The remaining £5.20 was spent on a portion of dab and chips from Davy's Fish and Chip Shop.

This takes the total spend to £36.15, which is £1.15 over budget, but to make the day fit within the £35 budget, ChatGPT said it could either reduce the sweets budget to £2 or opt for just chips without the dab at Davy’s.
The assistant was also able to list a number of activities that could be enjoyed free of charge with the entry ticket.
This included a ride on the old tram, which provided a "fun and nostalgic" way to travel around the museum.
ChatGPT said it would also spend the day moving through Beamish’s "diverse exhibits," from the Edwardian Town to the 1940s Farm.
The assistant said these "interactive and immersive" activities bring each period to life and are all included in the entry fee. It also pointed out that one ticket was enough to grant entry to the museum for an entire year.
