Detection dogs helped sniff out counterfeit vapes and cigarettes in a successful Darlington community operation.
In a coordinated operation between the Darlington Police neighbourhood team, a dog unit and trading standards, officers led to the seizure of a large number of counterfeit vapes and cigarettes.
Using specially trained dogs to detect the tobacco products, the team were able to successfully remove the potentially dangerous goods from circulation.
The dogs played a key role in quickly identifying hidden counterfeit items in local shops.
Many counterfeit products contain harmful chemicals and are often sold without buyers realizing the risks.

Darlington Police said: "The amazing dogs really showcased their impressive skills! Thanks to their dedicated efforts, we were able to take a significant number of counterfeit cigarettes and vapes off the streets.
"It’s reassuring to know we’re protecting our community from products that could contain harmful chemicals!
"Many shoppers might not realise what they’re buying, and unfortunately, some shopkeepers are making a profit off that ignorance.
We don’t want anyone’s health to be jeopardised without them even knowing!"
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicions of counterfeit goods being sold in their area.
