A popular Darlington tapas bar will reopen once again, its owners have confirmed, just hours after its previous manager announced it would be closing after 13 years.
Sol Tapas, on Duke Street, today (November 6) posted online that it had made the “difficult decision” to close its Spanish restaurant.
The message was issued by former manager Zika Nada, who said that the closure decision had been made “with regret and sadness”.
However, The Northern Echo can confirm that the restaurant will soon be re-opening once again, under the same name, once issues with electricity at the site are resolved.
The business will be run by the same owners and chef, just with a new management team, and is set to re-open the doors “soon”. An official opening date has not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, Zika is no longer working for the business.
A statement from the owners of Sol Tapas said: “Sol Tapas has been temporarily closed since the beginning of October as the premises licence was revoked and the electricity supply was cut off.
"We are pleased to let everyone know that Sol Tapas will be back open ASAP under new and experienced management. Our excellent long-term chef, Paul, is staying so the food will be of the same excellent standard.
"Whilst we wait to open, we are undertaking a much-needed refurbishment and cannot wait to re-open!"

As previously reported, Sol Tapas has been known for providing “top quality tapas” with a range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, and boasts a 4.5 star rating on Google reviews.
Customers previously praised the restaurant - which was awarded a “recommendation badge” by Restaurant Guru in 2021 - as serving "lovely" food with "second to none" service.
The restaurant said it hopes its customers will "come back and support" the site once it reopens.
