A man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in Hartlepool. 

Police and paramedics were called to the town on Wednesday (November 6) after reports that a 25-year-old man had been stabbed on Kent Avenue around 8.55am. 

An air ambulance was sent to the scene, landing at the Tees Bay Retail Park, before working with crews from the North East Ambulance Service. 

Cleveland Police has confirmed that a man was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, with his injuries not believed to be life-threatening at this time. 

A 20-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and he remains in police custody at this time.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service said: "We were activated to an incident in Hartlepool at 9:03 and the team flew to the incident via Helicopter, arriving on the scene at 9:12.

"They worked with the North East Ambulance Service to treat the patient before returning to base."  

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident at a private address at 8.49am.

"We dispatched two ambulance crews, including a specialist paramedic, and were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
