Plans to formally approve a play area at a Darlington pub have been submitted to the council.
The Copper Beech on Neasham Road has applied for retrospective approval to convert a tarmac area in its car park into a children's play area and outdoor seating zone.
The work, completed in the summer of 2021, includes the installation of play equipment, picnic tables with benches, and the laying of astroturf and bark over the existing tarmac.
A small fenced area has also been included to ensure children can play safely, away from nearby traffic.
The terrace, which now features astroturf and bark, also has picnic benches.

Installations are not permanent and can be removed if needed the pub has said in application forms lodged with Darlington Borough Council.
The proposal notes that the installations are not permanent and can be removed if needed.
The pub's plan also includes the provision for six parking spaces at the front of the property.
The application does not mention any prior consultation with the local authority regarding the change of use.
The application is now being considered by Darlington Borough Council's planning department.
