A popular Darlington cheese and wine shop that closed earlier this year due to financial and family pressures is set to re-open under new management this week.
The Cheese and Wine Shop, based on Clarks Yard in the town centre will triumphantly open its doors once again on Saturday (November 9) months after its closure.
Former owners Claire and Katy revealed on September 28 that they were closing stating that "all-consuming pressure" to keep the shop going became too much.
Now, husband and wife team Caroline and Dean Elliott are set to bring the shop back to life and hope customers will flock back to the store to get their cheese and wine fix.
Caroline, 46, told The Northern Echo: "We used to be customers of the shop and we did go along to wine and cheese tasting events they used to do. We really liked that and thought it was something unusual for Darlington.
"We did follow them on social media and saw they were closing the shop. We were really disappointed from a personal point of view but also for Darlington.
"It is really important we have independent shops in the area."
The pair then reached out to the former owners, agreed terms, and officially took over at the start of October.
Since then, they have had the "whirlwind" experience of opening up a business and giving the venue a bit of a transformation.
Caroline added: "It's been a busy few weeks to get everything up and running but we didn't want to miss the opportunity.

"It's really exciting for us. The shop has a really lovely community feel and loyal base of customers. We have had a great response from everyone about the re-opening.
"We hope they support us by continuing to come in and use the shop."
The Cheese and Wine Shop will re-open at 9am on Saturday (November 9).
