Olivia Howett went to watch the Scouting for Girls concert at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Monday night (November 4) - and this is what she thought of it.
Scouting for Girls delivered an unforgettable night at Middlesbrough Town Hall, mixing nostalgia, humour and undeniable energy into an amazing show.
The atmosphere was electric from the start, and the setting- a charming venue that felt somewhere between a grand old theatre and a school hall - was transformed with impressive lights and sound, adding a touch of modern polish to its historic feel.
There wasn’t a bad seat in the house, thanks in part to lead singer Roy Stride’s playful use of the entire space. At one point, he even appeared on the balcony, making sure every single fan felt like part of the action.
One of the standout moments of the night was when Roy dedicated the song 'Glow' to a couple in the crowd who had previously got engaged to that very song.
It was a genuinely touching gesture that made the night feel intimate, as if we were all there celebrating with them.
As not an avid listener going in, I Initially thought I might not recognise many of the songs.
But to my surprise, Scouting for Girls had the whole crowd singing along to one hit after another.
From classics like “Heartbeat” and “She’s So Lovely” to unexpected covers that got everyone jumping, they kept us on our toes all night.
Their performance of the Busted anthem “Year 3000” had the floor literally shaking as everyone jumped along, while their take on Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” played after their own hit “Elvis Isn’t Dead”.
And in a memorable moment, my friends at the front even managed to grab the Elvis doll Roy tossed into the crowd, a fun little souvenir.
One unique feature of the show was a campfire setup that the band brought onstage, adding a fun, nostalgic twist to the performance.
At one point, they dubbed us the ‘fifth member’ of the band, urging everyone to sing along to keep the energy high.
It was a clever way to engage the audience and make us feel like part of something special.
Overall, Scouting for Girls created an infectious energy that kept everyone smiling, singing and dancing from start to finish.
Middlesbrough Town Hall might be small, but with this band’s lively spirit and powerful stage presence, it felt as if the room could barely contain all the energy inside as the floor was shaking.
