Farmfoods is set to open a new store at a popular Teesside shopping complex.

The frozen food retailer - which has sites in the likes of Darlington and Stockton - has taken over the former Lidl supermarket at Thornaby's Pavillion Shopping Centre.

The store, on Allensway, has been closed since Lidl pulled out of the town centre on March 1, having previously announced it would be shutting up shop earlier in January.

But there's set to be life in the aisles of the unit once more as Farmfoods prepares to open its new site on Friday, November 8, according to the chain's website.

Opening times vary for the new store, with midweek dates opening at 7am and closing at 10pm, Saturdays opening at 7am and closing at 8pm, and Sundays between 11am and 5pm.

Signs were stripped from the former Lidl supermarket shortly after it closed its doors in March.

The new Farmfoods shop has recently started being teased by the chain on Facebook, with fans already saying they "can't wait to visit".
