Abu's curry house on Duke Street in Darlington has made it onto our exclusive list.
Abu Raihan, 34, told The Northern Echo how they are proud he is be included alongside larger businesses in the area.
Abu's has been a family run curry house for the last five years, slowly building up a loyal customer base.
Mr Raihan, manager of the restaurant, said: "We do Indian food and we are so proud of it.
"We are a small family business, I am the manager and my father is the chef with 50 years experience.
"On weekends my siblings come to help at the front of the shop.
"Our speciality dish is the Nawabi Khana which uses 21 different spices and has a truly unique flavour.
"Some of our customers have been coming for years and some have grown up eating our food.
"We are pleased to be on the shortlist for this award and it would really be the cherry on top if we won it."
Gavin Foster, editor of The Northern Echo added: "Curry houses are loved across the country and our region has some exceptional restaurants.
