Plans to install solar panels on the roof of Darlington Memorial Hospital have been thrown out by the council after a lack of action on the application.
The application was initially submitted on February 7, 2022, but Darlington Borough Council threw the application out last Wednesday (October 30).
Proposals, submitted by Paul Ingram from Absolute Solar and Wind Ltd, aimed to fit solar PV modules with a total system size of 99.84 kWp across three buildings at the hospital.
The applicant was Emily Waters of QE Facilities Limited in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.
Planned projects had specified that it would not exceed a total generation capacity of one megawatt.

It also complied with location restrictions, confirming that the site is not in a conservation area, national park, or other designated protected locations.
However, according to the council, the application remained static with no further written contact or follow-up from the applicant.
The Local Planning Authority enacted Article 40(13) of the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) Order 2015, treating the application as finally disposed of.
An application is noted as 'disposed of' when more than six months have passed since action was taken on the application by the applicant, or since a time limit expired.
This means that an appeal against the decision is no longer possible.
