A man has been taken to hospital after he was found in the street near a pizza shop with serious head injuries this morning.
Several police patrol cars and an ambulance converged on the scene near the Papasallis pizza shop on Oxbridge Lane in Stockton at about 11.20am on Saturday (October 2).
The area around the pizza shop remained cordoned off as CSI officers inspected the scene.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "At 11.20am on Saturday 2 November police were called to Oxbridge Lane in Stockton following reports of a man with numerous injuries to his head following an assault.
"The 32-year-old was taken to North Tees General Hospital by ambulance. Enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate those responsible."
A North East Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to a person injured on Oxbridge Lane, Stockton shortly after 11.12 this morning.
"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and one patient was transported to North Tees Hospital."
"Anyone who has information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number 210375."
