Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to trace as they investigate a serious assault in Newcastle city centre.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said the victim, a man in his 30s, was walking with his friends on New Bridge Street, close to Manors Metro Station, when he was approached by an unknown male at 11.45pm on Wednesday, October 23.
"The male has then assaulted the victim with a bladed article, leaving him with injuries to his face, neck and chest.
"The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and later discharged.
"A full investigation has been launched by Northumbria Police into the incident, with a number of lines of enquiry carried out.
"Today (Saturday), officers have released the image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the report.
"He was in the area at the time the assault took place and officers believe he may be able to assist with enquiries."
Officers are also keen to hear from any witnesses who were in the New Bridge Street area at the time of the incident, as well as those who may have dashcam footage from their vehicles.
