A Durham Police officer was injured and taken to hospital for treatment following a police pursuit in Shildon last night (Thursday 31).
The incident began when officers identified a Ford Focus, believed to have been involved in a burglary earlier in the day.
Following a chase, with officers from Durham’s Roads and Armed Policing Unit as well as the Police Helicopter began a pursuit, two men were arrested.
A 21-year-old diver on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop, and having no insurance, and a 25-year-old passenger on suspicion of burglary.

The car was seen driving without lights, whilst it was dark and at speeds of up to 80 mph on the wrong side of the road through Chilton and Ferryhill.
Tactical contact was used to stop the vehicle, after which four suspects fled on foot.
The two arrested remain in custody and the other two remain at large as the investigation continues.
