A 47-year-old man was attacked whilst walking in Stockton on Wednesday 30, Mischief night.
Two males got out of a red vehicle and followed him to Londonderry Road at 5:30am where they then assaulted the man by punching his face, brandished a knife and thew an unknown substance towards the man, which luckily missed him.
During the process the two males also took his backpack containing various possessions.
Cleveland Police have now launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for information or any footage regarding the assault and robbery.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Cleveland Police would like to hear from anyone with information or who may have captured doorbell, dashcam or private CCTV footage of the two males or the red vehicle in the area at the time.
"Please contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref SE24207787."
