Plans to make changes to a County Durham business park's car park have been lodged with the council.

The Trustees of the Paloma I (Industrial III) Unit Trust have applied for a Lawful Development Certificate (LDC) at Drum Industrial Estate.

The estate, located in Chester-le-Street, has a low flood risk and includes a mix of industrial units and residential areas.

The proposed works cover various upgrades and adaptations.

These include cladding, structural changes, the installation of access gates, road reconfiguration, and adjustments to existing parking facilities.

Additionally, the plans include the creation of electric vehicle charging bays, the erection of new fencing, and internal access improvements.

The application relies on specific parts of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015.

These allow certain developments to be carried out without express planning permission.

The applicable sections cover minor operations, building extensions, and maintenance of unadopted streets and private ways.

The supporting statement for the LDC, prepared in October 2024, asserts that all proposed works comply with the General Permitted Development Order, making them lawful.

The document requests the issuance of an LDC.

The application form, submitted by the same trustees in June 2024, outlines the proposed operations.

These include building modifications, the creation of new access points, and the installation of hard standings and enclosures.

The site is intended for B2 General Industrial use.

The application did not involve any pre-application advice, and the declaration confirming ownership and accuracy of the information was signed by the agent, DPP.
