Due to roadworks, drivers could face up to 30-minute diversions on an evening in County Durham starting this weekend.

Over the next week, motorists who usually use the A167 in Chester-Le-Street will have to use an alternate route, due to resurfacing work.

Drivers to face 30-minute County Durham diversion from A167:

Durham County Council has issued a notice to close a 775-meter stretch of the northbound A167 Park Road South for essential resurfacing and gulley renewal works from Sunday (November 3).

The closure will be in place for six nights between the hours of 7pm and 6am each day.

As a result of this work, drivers wanting to use the A167 between the times that it's closed will be diverted on an 18-mile diversion route, which will add 30 minutes to the journey.
