Plans to convert a County Durham takeaway into a dog grooming salon have been submitted to the council.
The proposal seeks to repurpose Unit 12, Byron House, located in the Seaham Grange Industrial Estate, from its previous industrial use.
Formerly a pizza takeaway, the new dog grooming salon will be in the company of a variety of businesses, including a pet crematorium, fitness facility, bathroom and kitchen design centre, LJM Tyres, a motorcycle dealer, and a pharmacy.
Kim Smith, owner of "Tails at Seaham Grange," has put forward the application, planning to serve her existing client base at the new location.
The transformation of the unit will involve minimal interior modifications to reduce disruption.
A reception desk with a gated counter will be installed to ensure the safety of the dogs, along with a partition wall to separate the salon from the stock room.

Specialised equipment, including an electric dog grooming bath, washing machine, and dryer, will also be fitted to support grooming services.
External signage is planned to be in line with the existing signs of other businesses in the industrial estate.
In terms of regulatory compliance, the proposal has been given the green light from highways, building control, and environmental health authorities, with conditions ensuring proper sanitation and waste management.
The salon will utilise the existing two parking spaces, deemed sufficient for its operations.
The site presents no flood risk and, due to the minimal scope of the internal modifications, no adverse impact on local biodiversity is expected.
The plan includes connecting to the existing drainage system to handle wastewater, with arrangements in place for waste collection to ensure no visual impact on the area.
