Bombay Gate, in Darlington, has been nominated for The Northern Echo’s best curry house competition.
Bombay Gate opened at number 10 Skinnergate in 2019, just before the COVID pandemic.
But this didn’t stop them, they adapted their restaurant to do takeaway to help them survive.
The Darlington-based Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant, owned by Syed Ahmed, is delighted to have been nominated for the award by their loyal Darlington customer base.
Bombay Gate, which has been a staple in the local dining scene for the past five years, sets itself apart by blending traditional Indian and Bangladeshi street food with a fine dining experience.
He said: “Everyone who comes through our doors is treated like family. We’ve built a strong community around Bombay Gate, and that is something I’m very proud of.”
“We’re incredibly grateful for this recognition, as we’re always looking for ways to improve and contribute to making Darlington the best it can be,” Ahmed concluded.
Bombay Gate were very surprised and delighted that their restaurant has been nominated for The Northern Echo's best curry house competition and says it's nice to have their hard work and good team be recognised in this way.
