The Northern Echo is on the hunt for the best curry house in County Durham and Darlington - and today we are focusing on just one of our nominees.
Curry - the popular Indian dish has become much-loved by Brits, with recipes on these shores dating back to the 18th century.
And in County Durham and Darlington, there is a rich selection of curry houses to sample some of the best on offer.
Today, we are focusing on Spice Lounge which is based on Fore Bondgate that first opened back in 2008 in the midst of the financial crisis.
Manager Issi Islam said: "We first opened in May of 2008 - and we are based here after we fell in love with the town.
"It's a lovely market town with a lot of character. We saw a lot of potential. Business has been good and had its ups and downs like COVID and the recession.
"But we do have some fantastic customers we regard as our friends - some are like family. It has been hard going but rewarding at the same time."
Issy added that it is an "honour" to be nominated for the accolade alongside such good competition.
He said: "There are certainly a lot of curry houses in County Durham so it is great to make it into that top ten. We're elated and excited at the same time.
"It would be fantastic if we did win!"
