A new mobile vet service has launched in Darlington to help pet owners in need.

Justyna Przybylska has been a veterinary surgeon for 10 years and she has seen demand grow for care outside of work hours.

She observed how most people struggle to visit the vets outside of work hours and end up competing for the last available appointment of the day.

Now she hopes The Emergency Mobile Vet will be able to help people who want a more private service or flexible times for appointments.

The service will not just be for emergency appointments but consultations and vaccinations too.

The business opening hours will be 5pm to 11.30pm from Monday to Friday. There will still be appointments available on Saturday and Sunday.

Ms Przybylska said: "I have been working as a veterinary surgeon for the last 10 years.

"There has been a really high demand and it is increasingly hard for people to get appointments.

"People really appreciate the privacy and comfort of appointments at home.

"Pets can get stressed when being taken to the surgery too.

"To start with it will be home appointments and the van will be coming soon to enable surgeries."

The vet will be helping small animals in Darlington and 15 miles around the town.

At a stretch, she is happy heading out to Barnard Castle or Catterick but plans to focus on Darlington.

She explained that she wants to help the working person with pets have an easier time getting an appointment.

Ms Przybylska added: "It's dedicated for people who can't get out of work to have an appointment without booking a days holiday.

"The appointment at 6pm or 7pm are always the busiest and most competitive at a normal practice.

"I will be available and on call until 11.30pm to help.

"I also want to highlight that I am not part of a larger business or corporation, I am proudly independent."
