Three suspects have been arrested after armed police swooped on Stockton town centre following reports of a man putting a firearm into a vehicle today. 

Armed officers converged on a business premises on West Row in the town shortly after noon on Sunday (October 27). 

Cleveland Police officers were also focused on a shop on Ship Inn Yard, off West Row. 

Shortly after their arrival, one man was seen being led away in handcuffs. 

Police cordoned off West Row with tape.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "At 12.15pm on Sunday, October 27, police were called to West Row in Stockton following reports of a man putting a firearm into a vehicle.

"Officers, including armed response, attended to the area and two men, aged 62 and 64, were detained.

"They have both been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and transported to police custody for questioning.

"Following further enquiries, officers have arrested a third man. The 20-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of possession of a firearm."
