Should more venues become dog-friendly?
Readers of The Northern Echo have been discussing which, if any, venues they would like to take their four-legged friends to.
Views were divided, with many readers expressing strong opinions on both sides of the debate.
Sue Gargett said: "No more!
"As a multiple dog owner but also parent of an autistic child who is scared of dogs he doesn't know, we are rapidly running out of dog-free places."
Similarly, Clare Ann expressed concern for those with dog allergies, saying: "I’m a dog owner and I think far too many places are dog friendly! It’s not good for those who have allergies."
On the opposing side, Lisa GH stated: "All of them! I don’t understand why dogs aren’t allowed in shops."
Alison Denton expressed a similar sentiment, saying: "When I’ve taken my two out to cafes and pubs, they are always well-behaved.
"So as long as dogs are not on the seats or tables, they are far cleaner than some children."

Charissa Belinda Kelch suggested that dog-friendly towns could benefit from increased tourism, stating: "I have a small well-behaved dog and you wouldn’t even notice she was there.
"I think it helps towns that are more dog friendly, as when you are visiting for the day to walk the dog, it will benefit when you stop for coffee and go for lunch afterwards."
However, some readers shared concerns about the potential disruption caused by dogs in public spaces.
Henry George said: "Dogs should not be allowed in cafes, restaurants or pubs, unless they’re guide dogs.
"Hairs go everywhere, dog slobber on the floor. It’s just very unhygienic."
