Darlington Borough Council have revealed pictures of their CCTV operation around the town.

They have described how hard their control room staff work to keep members of the public safe.

Addressing a series of 'myths' about the Darlington CCTV cameras they have stated that all cameras are monitored, they are never switched off and they are effective.

(Image: DBC) A spokesperson said: "Our control room staff work tirelessly to keep us safe – as International Control Room Week draws to a close, we wanted to remind you of some of the myths we've been sharing during the week."

Myth 1 - The cameras are not monitored

Their control room is staffed with two operators on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The cameras record constantly and store recordings for 30 days, at this stage footage is automatically over-written.

Myth 3 - The cameras never catch anything

The operators record many incidents which help secure arrests, and convictions. However this often has to remain restricted due to court proceedings.

And, remember, the team does so much more than just monitor our CCTV cameras to help keep us safe.
