A man has been injured following a "stabbing" on a Stockton estate. 

Police and paramedics were called to Dumbarton Avenue, near Ragworth shops, on Friday (October 25) after reports of a stabbing around 10.45am. 

Pictures taken from the scene show several police vehicles and officers outside the My Choice Pizzeria shop, as well as a vehicle parked on the junction with Doncaster Crescent.

Eyewitnesses reported that someone had suffered "slash wounds" during the incident - with Cleveland Police later confirming that a man is believed to have sustained injuries to his arms. 

He has received treatment from paramedics - although his current condition remains unknown.

The North East Ambulance Service has since confirmed that one person was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The force is now appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.

A spokesperson said: "At 10.45am on Friday 25 October police were called to Dumbarton Avenue in Stockton following reports of a stabbing.

"The man is believed to have sustained injuries to his arms requiring treatment from paramedics. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who has information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number 204509."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 10.38am this morning to reports of a person injured at a private address in Stockton.

"We dispatched an ambulance crew and a specialist paramedic to the scene. One patient was taken to hospital for further treatment."
