Plans to build a log cabin holiday park in Teesside have been withdrawn after objections were raised about its impact on the local area.
Proposals to develop a holiday site at Mordon Lodge, Mordon, with ten log cabins, a landscaped pond, a play area, and a café/shop were submitted by Mr and Mrs S Padgett,
The project also included converting the existing large dwelling into two separate units, one with an attached ancillary unit for a dependent.
Covering around one hectare, the development included the house gardens and surrounding fields.
A design and access statement from July 2023 detailed plans for up to 200 new trees for ecological benefits and screening the cabins for privacy.
Cabins, designed as timber-framed structures, were intended to blend with existing buildings for minimal visual impact from the road.
However, Sedgefield Town Council objected due to concerns about highway safety, noting the development would significantly increase traffic at a tight T-junction, raising the risk of accidents.
They formally requested the application be referred to the full planning committee for local residents to present their objections.

Mordon Parish Council echoed these concerns, specifically fearing the increased traffic at a busy junction would escalate the likelihood of accidents.
They also raised environmental concerns, as the development would be built on a greenfield site beyond the existing building line, risking landscape degradation.
The current sewage system, serving a small number of properties, was deemed inadequate for the proposed café and ten additional cabins.
Concerns were also raised about a wooden building near the entrance, believed to be constructed without proper planning approval.
Despite strong support from Visit County Durham, which highlighted the county's undersupply of visitor accommodation and the proposal's alignment with recent investments in regional attractions, the application was withdrawn on October 21.
No further reasons for the withdrawal were provided in the documents.
