Police have seized three uninsured vehicles after a special constable noticed them driving in convoy down the A19 early this morning.
Durham Special Constabulary officer Kevin Garthwaite was on routine patrol when the vehicles caught his attention at about 3.40am on Thursday (October 24).
A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "After checking with Durham Constabulary's control room, SC Garthwaite discovered that all three vehicles were not registered in the force area.
"Not able to let this one go, the officer called upon his colleagues from Durham Roads & Armed Policing unit to assist with stopping all three drivers.
"Once the drivers were pulled over, it was revealed that all of the vehicles had no insurance.
"The cars were seized and the drivers were reported for court.
"If you’re driving around our county, make sure to have the relevant documents or officers will stop you."
