Police have released images of two suspected bogus traders after an elderly couple said they were almost scammed out of thousands of pounds for roof repairs.
The couple, who live in the Hylton Castle area of Sunderland, were reportedly approached at around 1:25pm on August 22 by people claiming to be repairing their neighbours roof.
The man and woman duo then demanded £2,500 from the pensioners for repairs who refused as they suspected it was a scam and reported the incident to the police.
They then drove out of the area.
Police have today (October 23) released images of two people they want to speak to in connection with the report as they are believed to have been in the area at the time.
Northumbria Police said: "The man or woman, or anyone who recognises them, is asked to contact Northumbria Police by sending a DM on social media, using the live chat on the Force website or by going to the https://www.northumbria.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/ page on the website."
