The family of seven-year-old Archie York, who tragically lost his life in an house explosion in Newcastle, have paid heartfelt tribute following the devastating incident.
Archie was killed at the scene of the explosion, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, October 16 on Violet Close.
In an emotional statement, Archie’s parents, Katherine and Robbie, shared their grief and spoke of the immense love they have for their son, who they described as the light of their lives.
They speak just after police have confirmed the identity and release a photo to the public of Archie York. They said: "We are so broken as a family but Archie will live on in his baby brother Finley who is the spitting image of him.
“He might have been small but he had a heart of gold, everyone loved him.
The family expressed their gratitude for the support they have received from the community, particularly those who took part in a balloon release to honour Archie. "Everyone did him proud," they said. "We are still wanting to wake up from this nightmare, but Archie knows he will be in our hearts forever and always. We love you, Archie York. #forever7."

Archie’s death has left the community and his family in deep mourning as they come to terms with the tragic loss. Specially-trained officers are supporting Katherine and Robbie during this painful time.
Superintendent Darren Adams of Northumbria Police extended his condolences to the family, saying, "Our thoughts are with Archie’s loved ones at this devastating time. He lost his life in truly tragic circumstances, and we ask that people respect his family’s privacy as they grieve."
The investigation into the explosion, which caused significant damage, is ongoing. Emergency services, including Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, are working to determine the cause. Authorities have asked for patience while they work to uncover the full details surrounding the incident.
