A busy road currently undergoing major maintenance work is set to close for one day.

Leven Bank Road, between Yarm and Ingleby Barwick, will see a temporary road closure to allow for "important maintenance work to be carried out safely and efficiently".

The road has had a two-way traffic light system in place 24/7 since late June as Northumbrian Water install new water mains.

The temporary road closure will take place on Sunday, October 27, from 7am until 6pm, and will be between Mount Leven Roundabout and Hilton Lane.

During the closure, Stockton Council’s highways, street cleansing and horticulture teams will be working to "enhance the condition and safety of the area".

A fully signed diversion will re-route traffic via A67 Thirsk Road, the A19, A174 Parkway Extension, and A1044 Thornaby Road.

For residents whose properties are located within the closed section on Leven Bank, the council said access will be managed from the north-east side (Ingleby Barwick) to minimise disruption.
