A national gym operator is set to open its second gym on Teesside.
JD Gyms will be taking over the current Xercise4Less gym at Tesco Extra, on Durham Road in Stockton, with an opening date set before the end of 2024.
The fitness facility will be undergoing a major refurbishment and will become 24/7 when it reopens as JD Gyms Stockton North - with major additions including an extended free weights zone and Eleiko training zone.
Xercise4Less will close on Sunday, November 17, for roughly five weeks of refurbishment works, with an opening date currently pencilled in for Monday, December 23.
The operator has promised an “unmatched” selection of gym equipment for the site, including “plenty of platforms and racks for lifting as well as other essentials such as smith machines and lots of cable stations”.
The gym will also boast an “enormous” cardio area with treadmills, bikes, stair climbers and more, as well as a fully-equipped class studio, which will host unlimited classes for members.
This will mark the second JD Gyms on Teesside, with JD Gyms Stockton South launching at Preston Farm Industrial Estate earlier this year.
Located in the former TruGym, which has been closed since May 2023, the doors to the gym were finally opened last month after months of refurbishment works.
Prospective members of the Stockton North site are asked to register now for an early-bird offer, with the first month cost £5, with no contract and a £0 joining fee.
Only 200 memberships available at this price.

“We’ll also be transforming the functional training area with a brand-new Eleiko training zone, and adding a dedicated glute and tone area, as well as making extensive decor improvements and upgrades to the changing rooms.
