A North East playground has been ruined after a wheelie bin was set on fire underneath the play equipment.
The Greengates play area on Roseberry field in Redcar has been badly damaged by the flames.
It has sadly had to be closed and the incident has been reported to the police.
A Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council spokesperson said: "We unfortunately have to close off the Greengates play area, on Roseberry field in Redcar.

"It appears a wheelie bin was brought into the play area and set alight under the play equipment.
"We have reported this to the police.
"Due to the damage the play area will remain closed whilst repairs are carried out."
